Welcome to Jaguar Productions. The name of this company was coined by my father in 1980 when he planned to open his business after a lifetime career as a photographer (prior to World War 2) and short time career as a Motion Picture Camera Man in Africa in the early 1960's. His migration to Australia in 1965 was unfortunately unable to support his dream career and move into television and so he worked for the Ford Industry in the last stage of his life. He died in 1981 aged 59.
I think that now I am in my 50's I feel a genetic pull towards his dream. While I have dabbled in film making since dad introduced me in 1980, it has been in stops and starts as the technology has evolved and I have been able to invest in the appropriate equipment. In the 1990's I owned a Panasonic M7 Camera that sat on one's shoulder, a far cry from Dad's camera that could only sit on a tripod for fear it would break your arms (both arms to hold it) lat-a-lone the battery porta Pac you carried on the shoulder weighing a good 10kg !! By the mid 1990's I had a great camera that used film (as opposed to digital) but the cost of developing film was often a barrier to its use. It was not until 2012 that I purchased my first digital camera (as a Father's Day gift to myself, I thought Dad would be pleased with) and that was not long superseded by camera's in mobile phones. In 2017 I purchased a Samsung Tablet for its ability to make calls & texts for business and a bonus side effect was the excellent camera for both photography and film. My first 12 films were recorded on this or a new Nokia mobile phone (to test its capacity) before I purchased a hand sized Panasonic video camera for myself for Father's Day 2019. However, the turning point for me was undertaking the 3 day introduction course to Video Editing with Adobe Premier Pro CC. Filming is one thing but Editing opens a whole new world !! My skills in Poetry & Writing has found a resurgence with my Film Making skills and my career in health education & health promotion through work as a Massage Therapist, Pregnancy Massage Practitioner, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Birth Doula and Postpartum Care Doula ... are happy with the instant Marketing Department I have given birth to ! While some films are for a serious purpose, most are for fun and frivolity. I am also interested in being commissioned to work for you, if you have a need. I am particularly interested in interviews with Elders about their life, for their family keepsake as well as a learning tool for younger generations. Something I think particularly great would be a Will Reading Film where it can be stipulated why each family member was allocated the inheritance they were given (or not) with a streak of "you fight this Will for more and you will be left on the street". I am not sure how strong it would stand in a Court of Law but I'm willing to start that movement !! Feel free to contact me if you have an idea that needs a Film Maker and we can see what we can do.
